Herb Ruschmann

Mr. Ruschmann is Of Counsel at Sorell, Lenna & Schmidt. His law practice focuses on intellectual property in the areas of patents and trademarks. His patent practice includes patentability and infringement opinions, licensing, and patent prosecution in the areas of electrical, electronic, electro-mechanical, computer, computer software, and mechanical innovations.

His patent prosecution experience is diverse extending over twenty two years.  In electrical/electronic disciplines he has prosecuted patents involving technology such as solid state memories, piezoelectric resonators, laser implemented semiconductor testing, RF and microwave transmission systems and components, waveguide filters and diplexers, audio systems, digital television, manufacturing equipment, facsimile and copying equipment, and batteries. In the computer software area his prosecution experience includes business method systems including online retail and inventory management,  computer data archiving systems, manufacturing automation systems, and video games, both arcade type and internet enabled multi-player games. In the mechanical arena he has prosecuted patents ranging from automotive applications such as electric-servo steering mechanisms, diesel engines, transmissions, anti-skid braking, traction control, and tires, to manufacturing equipment such a precision milling and grinding equipments, semiconductor wafer lapping devices, and automated circuit board assemblers, to fluid valves,  pressure regulators, and heat exchangers.

Prior to entering law practice, Mr. Ruschmann was an electrical engineer for Texas Instruments, Harris Corporation, and Telephonics corporation.  He has particularized expertise in electrical engineering directed to RF and microwave devices including receivers, transmitters, transponders, waveguide devices, precision measurement and test instruments, and computerized operation of such devices including electro-mechanical actuation involving servo control and stepper motor systems and software design associated with these systems.  Projects included military programs requiring, in addition to electrical design, mechanical design involving extreme environmental operating ranges necessitating material and mechanical engineering directed resonance and thermal fatigue considerations.
